Photographer Ted Harrison (Michael Paré) is on assignment in the Himalayas when he is bitten by a weird animal. He returns to the States to the home of his sister, Janet (Mariel Hemingway). She is unaware that anything is wrong with her brother. Gradually Ted begins to turn into an animal, a fact which is only recognized by his nephew's dog, Thor. Ted begins to experience blood lust and goes on killing sprees. He gets more and more unable to resist the urge to kill both his sister and his nephew Brett (Mason Gamble), and it seems only Thor, the family dog, can help him lifting the curse.
