Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel) is a Hollywood movie star, making movies for audiences of young girls. But when he continues to make the tabloid scandals, his manager (Nathan Lane) and agent (Sean Hayes) come up with an idea to clean up his image so he can be maintain his young fan base still supervised by parents. Their idea is for someone to win a date with Tad who will give him a wholesome image. This girl must be from a small town and still in awe of Tad as a good guy. Rosalee (Kate Bosworth) is a supermarket checker from a small town in West Virginia. When she wins the contest, it seems like the perfect image for Tad. But when he goes out to the country to meet the girl, he suddenly realizes how refreshing a person Rosalee can be compared to the fake girls in LA. Rosalee has always had a friend in Pete (Topher Grace) who awkwardly tries to show her he likes her. But when Tad comes into town and actually seems interested in Rosalee, he has to step up and compete with Tad to show her that he is a better choice of a boyfriend for her. Confused, Rosalee wonders if either of the men are really interested in her or just interested in winning. She must follow her heart and decide whom to choose.
