The Bourne Identity, starring Matt Damon, is about CIA agent Jason Bourne. He plays the role of a trained assassin with amnesia. The movie begins with Bourne being fished out of the sea. He has been shot, and has no memory of what happened. Furthermore, he doesn't even know his own identity. The ship's doctor pulls a capsule embedded in his body which leads Bourne to a Swiss bank account. From the bank account, he slowly pieces together the events leading up to his amnesia. Bourne meets Marie, portrayed by Franka Potente. She helps him escape from the CIA authorities who now believe he is a threat to their organization. The movie concentrates on Jason's and Marie's attempt to elude the CIA authorities and his attempts to regain his memory.
