When Drew (Orlando Bloom) loses his job as a designer at a large shoe company after his design flopped causing the company to lose $1bn, he is on the verge of suicide. When he learns of his father's death; he must travel to Kentucky to make funeral arrangements for his mother. Depressed and alone, he arrives in the town of Elizabethtown to find his father is somewhat of a local hero and that there is a whole family of people waiting there to welcome him. On his journey to Elizabethtown, he meets a kooky air hostess, Claire (Kirsten Dunst) who helps him out in his time of need.
