Angela Bennett (Sandra Bullock) works out of her home for a software company debugging programs that have problems. She receives a game to debug with what seems like a small fault: a misplaced icon in the corner of the screen. However, when she clicks on it, she uncovers layers of secret information. Bennett had a vacation planned and rather than abandoning her work, she takes the program with her on her trip to Mexico. While in Mexico, Bennett falls in love and is mugged, causing her to loose her credit cards and IDs. To get back to the United States, Bennett obtains a temporary Visa under a false name. This is just the first step in Bennett’s identity loss, and as friends and family members are killed or threatened one by one, Bennett realizes that she may have uncovered more than a simple bug in a computer program.
