Ernie (Bruce McGill) is a butcher who is found dead in his own shop in the refrigerator. His partner Dave (John Lithgow) thinks that the death was an accident and that he is responsible for it. He is not aware of the fact that Ernie was actually killed by his wife Sunny (Teri Garr) who thought that Ernie was cheating on her and wanted his money as divorce settlement. She had hired private detective Lester (Randy Quaid) to get evidences but ended up killing her husband because she could not wait long enough to get the money. Dave loves Sunny and has absolutely no reason to doubt her.
